University of California, Berkeley

Consortium

The University of California, Berkeley aims to foster a culture of sustainability on campus and around the world. We do this by planning for and integrating sustainability practices into campus operations and by providing methods, strategies, and data for others to do the same. The university’s Office of Sustainability leads campus efforts to achieve carbon neutrality and zero waste with a focus on renewable energy, resource saving and stewardship, greening the built environs, and inspiring resilient and inclusive institutional change.

The UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism also offers a food and farming journalism fellowship. Aimed at early and mid career journalists, the fellowship presents an opportunity to report ambitious long form print and audio stories on the full range of subjects under the rubric of food systems: agricultural and nutritional policy, the food industry, food science, technology and culture, rural and urban farming, agriculture and the environment, food and climate change, global trade and supply chains, consolidation and securitization of the food system and public health as it relates to food and farming.
