Support the Next Generation

Support the next generation of leaders & communicators in sustainability.

Planet Forward’s mission is to teach and empower the next generation of sustainability storytellers to inform, inspire, and generate positive social and environmental impact. We place special emphasis on working with students and schools from underrepresented communities and disciplines.

Launched in 2009, Planet Forward has worked with thousands of diverse students

A project of GW’s School of Media and Public Affairs and led by Emmy Award-winning journalist Frank Sesno, Planet Forward works with students from across the country who share a passion for the planet and the ideas that move it forward.

Our Impact

Students produce stories for PlanetForward.org, attend the annual Planet Forward Summit in Washington, D.C., and experience life-changing storytelling expeditions.

Planet Forward also leads a consortium of 25 colleges and universities that participate in programming and promote Planet Forward’s activities.
