Kim is the associate director and former senior managing editor for Planet Forward. She joined the team as temporary help for the 2015 Summit and quickly decided she just wasn’t going to leave because she fell in love with the team and the project. Thankfully, Planet Forward needed her to stick around too, so that all worked out.
Kim previously worked at her local paper as a page designer and copy editor, and later for many years at an international news wire, where she helped create special sections — including one on the environment — which targeted newspapers’ growing need for outside content. At Planet Forward, she helped kick off our first ever Storyfest in 2015, and launched our flagship Correspondent program — a fellowship style mentored storytelling program — the following year.
Kim's love of the environment began as a child, between growing veggies in her family garden and learning to compost leftovers, to learning about this exciting new program her city launched when she was in elementary school, called — wait for it — “recycling.” When not plotting her annual garden, you’ll likely find Kim obsessing over photo gear and editing pictures of the sunset, kayaking, watching hockey, exploring one of her many creative hobbies — or some combination of those activities!
