Halloween is an exciting time of year, but have you ever stopped to consider the bone-chilling environmental impact of the holliday? According to a 2019 study by UK environmental group Hubbub, 83% of Halloween costumes used non-recyclable oil-based plastics, which end up in landfills and pollute the planet. Planet Forward intern Aleena Fayaz asked George Washington University students about their Halloween costume plans to see if they measured up to sustainable standards.
