Vicki Deng

Planet Forward Senior Correspondent | Reed College

Contributor

Hello fellow readers! I am a senior studying biochemistry and molecular biology at Reed College in Portland, Oregon. I grew up in San Francisco surrounded by people of diverse backgrounds who brought colors of strength, love and ability in my life. My love for the environment stemmed from my love for the outdoors. Hiking through California, I saw the drying up of riverbeds and decrease in biodiversity due to the drought. From there, preservation of our environment became a personal issue and responsibility.

On top of being a scientist, I am also a major outdoor enthusiast! During my free time, you can find me off the grid backpacking or trying to climb mountains.
