Tiya Cantrell is a Senior Political Science major at Tuskegee University. She currently serves in several positions at her university and is a member of multiple honor societies. A few to name would be Tuskegee University’s Honor program, Pi Sigma Alpha (The National Honor Society for Political Science), as well as the National Society of Leadership and Success. After obtaining her bachelor's degree, she aspires to attend law school to earn her J.D and concentrate on Family or Entertainment Law. Beyond that, Tiya has become interested in environmentalism and hopes to learn more about it so she can contribute her thoughts and time to educating those near and far. Further, she is interested in food waste, food consumption, as well as combating food deserts that affect a substantial portion of marginalized groups. She is interested in figuring out effective ways to make sure that everyone has access to healthy and non-GMO food choices regardless of their placement or income. Cantrell’s goals as a correspondent for the Planet Forward team include expanding her skills of journalism, gaining knowledge in other areas of environmental issues, and being an aid for environmental justice being that this area often goes overlooked.
