McKenzie Allen-Charmley is an Dena'ina Athabascan and Black journalist from Anchorage, Alaska. She is pursuing a career in broadcast journalism to inspire young Native & Black girls and to help create the foundation of a journalistic evolution that values representation, authenticity and accuracy above all else. It is also her mission to become a vantage point in the newsroom that people come to for clarity and as a resource when it comes to telling Indigenous stories. She will graduate in May 2022 with a bachelor’s degree in journalism and a minor in business. McKenzie is currently a broadcast reporter for Cronkite News/Arizona PBS as well as a fellow for both NAJA and PlanetForward for 2021-2022.
