Every year is a bit different, but you can always expect in-depth discussions, electrifying speakers, and the solutions that will help move this planet forward!
During our 2024 Summit, we heard from some our most creative students on how they incorporate art into their environmental storytelling. Notable speakers included: National Geographic photographer Andrea Bruce and editor for creative storytelling at Grist Jessica Stahl.
For the 2023 Summit, we celebrated diverse voices, dove into compelling narratives, and explored sustainable solutions. Speakers included Kristen Jarrett, Equity and Impact Lead at Spotify, and Katie Orlinsky, National Geographic Contributing Photographer.
At the 2022 Summit, Indigenous graduate students JoRee LaFrance and Alexander Cotnoir introduced plans for the inaugural Indigenous Correspondents Program with Frank Sesno.
At the 2021 Virtual Summit, we met with keynote speaker and EPA Administrator, Michael S. Regan, who discussed the importance of environmental justice in all of our discussions of climate change.
This year, we conducted the Summit from home and spoke with the Rev. Lennox Yearwood of the Hip Hop Caucus about preserving hope across communities in the face of climate change.
In 2019, we spoke with Tom Szaky, CEO of TerraCycle, about waste management, plastic pollution, and the various ways to encourage business to mitigate their plastic waste.
National Geographic photographer Anand Varma described the beautiful and bizarre aspects of the natural world as the 2018 keynote speaker.
Virtual reality was introduced to the Summit this year! We spoke with Tobin Asher and Elise Ogle from the Virtual Human Interaction Lab about scientific storytelling through VR.
For the 2016 Summit, we spoke with keynote speaker Melodee Colbert-Kean, president of the National League of Cities about building green infrastructure in American cities.
