ContributorEve is never afraid to ask, “Why does this matter?” With a lifetime of work in conservation biology and sustainable development policy, and more than two decades as an entrepreneur managing a successful organic vegetable farm, Eve Kaplan-Walbrecht has a unique perspective that brings depth and authenticity to conversations about ecology, human systems, and change. Well acquainted with the force of nature’s resilience in the face of human alterations, she is interested in exploring the tension between human attachment and the earth’s adaptability. Through essays, talks, hands-on workshops teaching self-sufficiency skills, research, and nature walks Eve Kaplan-Walbrecht delivers a systems thinking mindset focusing on the biggest picture and the ultimate stakes for humankind. Eve is currently a student in the MS in Sustainability Management program at Columbia University. She holds a BA from Harvard in Environmental Science and Public Policy and a MS in Conservation Biology and Sustainable Development from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. Eve is passionate about land preservation, agricultural policy, and farmer empowerment in global contexts. She sits on the board of a number of NGO and governmental committees in her community of Riverhead, New York, USA.
