Dre Pedemonte is a recent graduate of The George Washington University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in English with Magna Cum Laude honors and a focus in environmental media and literature. A proud first-generation Peruvian-American college graduate, she is passionate about multimedia storytelling that brings climate, culture, and community to the forefront.
During her time at GWU, she served as the Social Media and Communications Intern for Planet Forward—an experience that deepened her commitment to environmental journalism and connected her with an inspiring network of mentors, professors, and peers. She is deeply grateful for the support and friendships she built in D.C., and especially honored to be part of the Planet Forward family.
In summer 2025, Dre is a Planet Forward Mystic Aquarium Fellow in southeastern Connecticut, creating digital stories about ocean conservation and education. She hopes to keep telling the stories that matter—stories that spark change, uplift communities, and defend truth in a moment when journalism is both urgently needed and increasingly challenged.
Born and raised in a large and lively family in Northern Virginia, Dre speaks English, Spanish, French, and Russian—and is currently learning Italian. In her free time, she enjoys playing her parlor-sized Breedlove guitar, affectionately named Joplin after her favorite musician.
