Alex Rubenstein

George Washington University

Contributor

Hello! My name is Alex Rubenstein, I am an enthusiastic quasi-millennial from Portland, Oregon and a senior at George Washington University majoring in International Affairs, with a concentration in Conflict Resolution, and double minoring in Arabic and Film Studies. As the Creative Assistant with Dr. Harvey's Film Studies Program, I've been honored over the past two years to have exponentially expanded my love for and appreciation of film, both narrative and documentary, and the undeniable power it has in impacting the society and environment around us.

Last summer I was lucky enough to travel with Georgetown Film Studies on a documentary filmmaking program in Florence, Italy. Since, my commitment to pursuing film as one of the most powerful mediums of cultural commentary has flourished tenfold and I have been honored to edit a short documentary on Puerto Rico's recovery from Hurricane Maria, among others. I am extremely honored to contribute to Planet Forward's Storyfest this year and hope that I am able to inspire both the community of teachers, students and aspiring filmmakers around me while also inspiring and strengthening myself and my own passions. Thank you!
