Cities can reduce greenhouse gas emissions and cultivate a new fuel source by managing methane emissions from landfills. In this video, Lawson Oates, Director of Toronto’s Environment Office, talks about the opportunities to be found in waste management. Methane, a GHG emitted at landfills, is 21-times more potent than carbon dioxide, making urban waste management efforts all the more important. And through creative planning and resource allocation, many cities can address the methane issue head on, turning a problem into an asset.
