OriginOil (originoil.com) CEO Riggs Eckelberry discusses the company’s recent turn from research toward commercial pilots.

Origin’s system grows the algae in large containers called bio-reactors with specially designed high-efficiency lighting systems that keep the algae growing and producing oil 24-7 without displacing a food crop or tying up a lot of land etc. In fact the operation would be much like a brewery both in size and general configuration. And their objective is not to produce the algae/oil themselves but rather to develop and refine the technology and license it out to all and sundry.
