Ecology tells us that the health and abundance of native plants and animals are important indicators of an ecosystem’s water quality. This simple lesson is putting teenagers from North Minneapolis to work this summer gathering data, clearing invasive plants, and enhancing interest in environmental stewardship.

The Mississippi River Green Team is a youth employment and conservation program run by the Mississippi Watershed Management Organization, the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board, and with support from Minneapolis Step Up, with hopes of creating a pipeline to strong green jobs in the future.
