I have an idea for high traffic areas in cities where there are downward slopes. The idea is to add “buttons” on a downhill slope that when pushed by rolling vehicles will generate energy. The buttons will be made a certain size and distance apart in order to make the driver easy going about it. I do not have the exact plans for engineering these buttons, but I am not an engineer. I assume the energy can be used to power street lamps and signs. It is difficult to say how much energy will be produced or the cost of implimentation, but I think it can work very well.

  1. Hi, the basic idea is really good I can further make it easy with solution in my mind,

basically there should be rollers like in car testing center for brakes which should contain alternater and complete slope area should be filled with rollers

there will be 2 impacts from this technology introduction

    1. the car speed wil lbe reduce which will act on safety rules as usually the momentum get increased and sometimes brakes didn’t effect properly for old cars ” these rollers should be adjusted properly so bumps should be minimal ”

    2. these rollers with build-in alternators will generate electricty which can be utilized for xyz purpose

  2. Thank you for those good suggestions Sultan! Does anyone know if this idea will be looked at by green companies or the governmeny for further studies?

  3. Interesting idea, although I would suggest a wind turbin generator under the hood to boost electical powerplant.. Tesla designed a interesting wind turbin that I would suspect would be helpful with electric car technology.. I am suprised its not been utilised yet.

  4. IlShaman: Thank you. You can submit your idea here on planetforward too. Did you know? :)

  5. Great! It looks like Chevrolet used my idea and put it in their new car the Chevy Malibu Eco. http://www.chevrolet.com/malibu-mid-size-sedan.html
