Adam Monroe, President of Novozymes of North America, caught up with Planet Forward at the Washington Auto Show to talk about their plan for developing a way to use agricultural waste for fuel. And how efficient is it? Well watch and find out.

  1. A few problems. If you remove that “agricultural waste” from the field instead of letting it decay and replenish the soil then you have to use energy and resources to create and deploy fertilizers. If you are going to use the corn stover it’s probably more efficient to simply burn it in a generating plant to power EV’s than go through this process to create ethanol and burn it in a 20% efficient ICE.
