I have been working with the bio gas technology at grass root level for the past 25 yrs, so far it has been startight jackted in India with the using of cowdung as the main substarte, in many places the constructed planst are defunct with the shortage of cowdung and water. While in developed nation this technology as is dependent on cowdung besides working in low temperature you need more gadgets and energy tokeep in functioning
recently the IISc, Bnagalore has introduced a new design based on plug flow, which can take biomass in its native state, and does not continous refilling of water. Now with a better understading of C:N ratio and improved microbilogy using of unused oil seedcake (have better Hydrogen based compound, the methane production goes above the 60% limit, in rural areas cooking will alway based on carbon fuel, Biogas is the best bet, excess can be used to drive captive engine, particularly for post harvest and irrigation
