Luther College’s sustainability initiatives are rooted in student values and supported through the institution’s strategic plan. The pursuit of our sustainable campus lies within the innovation of students, an openness to a new way of operating, and the desire to practice the joyful stewardship of the resources that surround us.
From a student project, to a house run complete on solar, to the largest solar field in Iowa, Luther students, faculty, and staff work to reduce our carbon footprint by 50% by 2015. Renewable energy, efficiency, conservation, and a community commitment are making it a reality.

Very impressive video about Luther students, faculty, and administration working together towards good stewardship, sustainability, and creative ideas to do their part in taking care of our planet. I am proud that my alma mater is taking a forward thinking approach, and becoming leaders in campus and community-wide projects. The experience that the students gain from cultivating ideas into reality is invaluable!
I hope that other campuses, schools, and communities adopt some of your ideas. This inspires me to speak with our local community and school leaders and see if our community can also join in the sustainability effort.
Great job, Luther! Go Norse!
