Criteria to evaluate alternative energy.

Most problem solving start with establishing certain criteria, so why not do the same with evaluating alternative energy sources?
Here are, in my opinion, the three main criteria to evaluate alternative energy:

1. It should not impact public health. (No air pollution)
2. It should have no or minimal impact of the world’s biosphere. (Global
Climate change)
3. It should be able to be stored and only used when needed.

If it does not meet these criteria, it will not solve our present problems created by the use of fossil fuels and therefore should be criteria used by governments before any taxpayers money is spent on subsidies.

  1. Picked out your cave yet Peter?

You are talking about the end game when there are a few thousand steps required to get there. Few people have any idea about subsidies – today what is subsidized and how much.

The present view in Washington (past 20 years and more) seems to be that if they shovel money out of the back of the truck fast enough some will maybe go in the right place.

  2. The world’s biosphere includes the surface and what you build on it. Large scale renewables should be developed to have the smallest foot print possible. http://www.basinandrangewatch.org

  3. Russ, yes I did and saw cavemen, although different dressed, still jumping around an open fire for their energy needs and not using the knowledge mankind acquired during the past century.
