Meet the Admiral . He’ll show you the new RCB-X “mean, green riverine machine” that runs on a 50 percent petroleum and 50 percent algae biofuel blend. Then, we’ll take you on a journey to rural Virginia to show you more of the green stuff. Check it out, it’s a shipload of algae!

Interesting, but I’d like to see what energy and resource inputs are required and to what extent is it scalable.

At last! Of course, it has taken time, but now we are able to see practical alternative means of implementing energy policy.
Algae oil will be an important addition to realistic green technologies.
The neatest thing to realize, soon will be the unforeseen benefits in terms of dependable profits to drive new technologies and environmental benefits such as integration of sewage treatment to provide fertilizers in aqueous suspensions to drive algae growth, generate a profit and ultimately clean our water ways and air. Hooray for you forward-thinkers!!

Yes. This is good news and like all the other bio-fuel techniques, it works. However, the real question is what is the cost to convert the algae to be useful as a fuel? I’m glad that you are raising consciousness, but the real push is needed in research to develop a cost effective technique. The real best answer for America at the moment is CNG for our cars until progress is made in the bio-fuel area.
