Our Media Collaborators

Planet Forward is collaborating with other media organizations, websites and schools, who not only help us reach new audiences and enhance distribution, but also bring in submissions with diverse expertise and unique points of view. We’re all about being a big tent, where everyone can discuss and engage with smart people from all sides of the issue.

Deutsche Welle – Global Ideas

With a name like Planet Forward, we couldn’t limit ourselves to a single continent. Thanks to Germany’s Deutsche Welle, one of the world’s largest public broadcasters, Planet Forward spans Europe and beyond. DW’s Global Ideas initiative has joined Planet Forward in its mission to inform the public about climate issues. Through robust social media platforms, Global Ideas elevates Planet Forward ideas. Also, Global Ideas blog posts and videos regularly appear on PlanetForward.org, joining NSF in our Science Corner.

National Geographic

No one knows the planet like National Geographic. That’s why Planet Forward is collaborating with National Geographic to produce an energy blog that explores what our energy future is going to look like. Featuring posts from thought leaders from industry, the environmental community and academia, this blog brings you the brightest ideas from leaders in today’s energy conversation. Planet Forward will share content as part of the multi-year “Great Energy Challenge.”

PBS

Planet Forward produces an annual hour-long broadcast special for public television. Driven by the most promising, original and intriguing ideas submitted online, our productions use a character-driven, high production-value format to explore your ideas with insight and advice of influential decision-makers. Planet Forward produced a pilot special, which aired on 95% of PBS stations in April 2009. Our next special is slated for broadcast around Earth Day 2011.

Nightly Business Report

Planet Forward produces monthly video pieces for Nightly Business Report to feature innovative thinking and solutions relating energy technology, sources, efficiency and conservation. Inspired mostly by submissions to planetforward.org, these pieces premiere on Nightly Business Report and are featured on our site, on PBS.org and across webisode distribution sites

Huffington Post

Frank Sesno is a featured contributor to Huffington Post’s Green Section. In weekly blog posts, he highlights our webisode and digs a bit deeper into the issues. Check out his posts here, on Huffington Post

MPT and NET

Our principal station partners within the public broadcasting system are MPT (Maryland Public Television) and NET (Nebraska Educational Telecommunications). MPT takes the lead as our presenting station – producing the special and coordinating outreach and distribution across the System. NET, which has worked with Planet Forward since its inception, is producing content from the nation’s heartland and assisting with multi-platform strategies and integration.
